A6 - Special event callsign A60WAAD (QSL via EA7FTR) will be active on 1-8 April for World Autism Awareness Day. Also expect activity by A60WAAD/0, A60WAAD/1, etc (see https://www.qrz.com/db/A60WAAD for the QSL routes for the various suffix extensions).
8Q - Tev, TA1HZ will be active holiday style as 8Q7HZ from the Maldives (AS-013) on 6-15 April. He will operate SSB and FT8/FT4 on 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 metres. QSL via LoTW or direct (see the instruc- tions on qrz.com); QSOs will also be uploaded to Club Log and eQSL. CT - CR50Y is the special callsign for members of the Rede dos Emissores Portugueses to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution (25 April 1974), which resulted in the Portuguese transition to democracy. Look for activity to take place on various bands and modes on 19-25 April. QSL via CT1REP. A certificate will be available, see qrz.com for information. CT8 - Holger, CT8/DL6ED (CW and SSB) and Mario, CT8/DM4MN (CW) will be active from Sao Miguel (EU-003), Azores from 28 March to 2 April. QSL via home calls and LoTW. DL - Celebrating World Amateur Radio Day, DARC special event callsign DA24WARD will be active on 1-30 April. All QSOs will be confirmed automatically via the bureau; direct cards via DL2VFR. E5_sc - Tom, K7TLM and Leslie, KD7YZE will be active as E51TLM from Rarotonga (OC-013), South Cook Islands on 7-13 April. They will operate QRP on 10 metres SSB (28385 kHz) and slow CW (28060 kHz) typically between 19.00 and 01.00 UTC. QSL via K7TLM, and maybe LoTW at a later stage. E6 - Gavin, ZL3GAV will be active as E6SP from Niue (OC-040) on 16-28 April. He will operate mainly FT8 and FT4 with a focus on 15 and 10 metres; SSB, as well as some CW, RTTY, VarAC and SSTV, are also possible. QSL via LoTW (preferred), or direct to EA5GL; if the connection to the Internet is stable, QSOs will be uploaded to Club Log in real time. When he is QRV, Gavin will try and "self spot" on https://twitter.com/ZL3GAV. GM - A team of five (namely G0AZE, G0VQO, M0EBJ, M0GLV and M0KVK) will be active as GB0SIC from the Isle of Coll (EU-008) on 15-20 April. They will operate SSB, CW and FT8/FT4 on "most bands". HB0 - Anne, OH2YL will be active as HB0/OH2YL from Liechtenstein on 6-13 April. She will operate CW and FT8 on 160-10m. QSL via home call. HB9 - Special callsign HB50VC celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Radio Amateur Club Swissair (HB9VC) from 18 March to 31 December. QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW; QSL cards will not be provided, but a certificate will be available for download: https://award.dl1run.de/award/hb50vc/awardform.html I - Special callsign II1GM will be used on 1-30 April to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Marconi. OZ - In celebration of World Amateur Radio Day, a number of Danish stations will be signing 5P0WARD/xx with different suffix extensions on 18 April. QSL via Club Log's OQRS and LoTW, or via OZ1ACB. PA - To mark the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (4 April 1949), special event stations PA75OTAN and PA75NATO will be active on 1-19 April and 20-21 April, respectively. Additionally, during the weekend of 20-21 April, several other special stations are expected to be QRV from various Cold War locations in the Netherlands: PA6KLD, PA75BBGB, PA75GOLF, PA75HS, PA75KLE, PA75KOC, PA75NAVO, PA75NN, PA75NSG, PA75PARE, PA75PBV, PA75YP, PC75NAVO, PD75SAS, PE75NATO, PG75NAVO and PH75NATO. QSL via Club Log's OQRS. [TNX DX World] SV - SZ0WARD is the special callsign for the Radio Amateur Association of Greece to celebrate World Amateur Radio Day on 15-30 April. TA - In celebration of World Amateur Radio Day, members of TRAC Izmir will be active as TC3WRD between 1 and 30 April. QSL via LoTW. A certificate will be available, see https://tadx.org/awards. TI - Reiner, DL2AAZ will be active holiday style as TI2/DL2AAZ from Costa Rica on 5-20 April. He will operate SSB and CW on 40-10 metres. QSL via home call, direct or bureau. [TNX The Daily DX] VE - Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force, between 1 and 30 April amateur radio operators across Canada will be operating special event stations with special callsigns such as VC3RCAF and VE3RCAF (Ontario), VC9RCAF and VE9RCAF (New Brunswick), VE2RCAF (Quebec), VE5RCAF (Saskatchewan), VE6RCAF (Alberta), VE7RCAF (British Columbia), VO1RCAF (Newfoundland), VY2RCAF (Prince Edward Island). QSL via operators' instructions. VE - Rikk, WE9G will be active as WE9G/VY0 from Iqaluit, Baffin Island (NA-047) on 11-16 April. Depending on conditions, he will operate FT8, FT4 and SSB on 80-10 metres. QSL cards will not be provided, but QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW, Club Log and eQSL. XE - Look for 4A5D to be active from Puerto Balleto on Maria Madre, the largest of the Islas Marias (NA-244, new one for IOTA) during the Easter weekend, indicatively between 23 UTC (17 local time) on 29 March and 18 UTC (noon local time) on 31 March. Initial plans were to be QRV for three hours a day only, but hopefully it may be more than that. The station will be operated mainly by XE2N, who will be accompanied by his wife (XE2DLC) and daughter (XE2DL). They will be running 100 watts into a vertical antenna, and will operate FT8 using MSHV (28090, 24911, 21090, 18095, 14090 kHz) and SSB (24950 and 18128 kHz). QSL via EA5GL and LoTW. Apparently the main purpose of this activation is to demonstrate to the authorities of this protected island the functionality of amateur radio, with a view to returning in the future with better equipment and more experienced operators. XE - Members of the Asociacion de Radio Aficionados de la Republica Mexicana will be active as 6D2SOL on 7-9 April. QSL via XE2M. The special callsign is for the Great American Eclipse (8 April), whose path of totality will run through Mexico (from Sinaloa to Coahuila), the USA (from Texas to Maine), and Canada (from Ontario to Newfoundland).
